![]() ![]() To celebrate the launch of Half-Life 2, Valve has remade a portion of Apple's iconic 1984 Super Bowl commercial in a Half-Life 2-inspired theme, with series protagonist Alyx Vance serving as the main character in the promo. Valve will continue to roll out new titles for the Mac on a regular basis, with the Half-Life 2 package representing the next step in that process. Among the 60 launch titles for Mac OS X was Valve's Portal, which was available for free until earlier this week. Valve announced in early March that it would be bringing its Steam game distribution platform and library of games to Mac OS X, with the public release going live earlier this month. Still, it’s recommended.As noted by Kotaku, Valve Software is set to launch the Mac OS X version of Half-Life 2 today, with follow-up sequels Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two also seeing their public release for the platform. Of course, in terms of optimization, it really carries an incomplete vibe. It opens up a lot of possibilities for players to see how the game could’ve been developed from that point, and how it arrived at the officially released version everyone knows today. ![]() With Half-LStoryline Port Mod, you get to experience an earlier version of the hit 2004 Valve FPS game. In some cases, enemies exhibit erratic behavior such as rushing or not detecting the player. You will find collision issues in certain areas, leaving you to pass through floors or walls. Also, expect the levels to contain a couple of bugs of varying degrees. Since this is a leaked map pack, it does not contain the same continuity and transition as the officially released version. The AI in this version is also different, leading to some wonky monster behavior. ![]() A fun detail to check out as you replay this different version of HL2 is that some enemies here look different from their final version. The maps in this version only bear slight differences compared to the released version, applying to the textures, set designs, and even monster spawns and locations. These maps comprise the mod, in their original 2003 glory. The content was released, including early versions of the stages players know and love today. Some fans got too excited, hacked into Valve servers, and found files used for the still-in-development sequel. With the original Half-Life game being a monumental hit, players were eagerly waiting for its sequel-and Half-LStoryline Port Mod is a good throwback to it. ![]()
